Network Security Engineer – Bristol (Hybrid) - £45,000 - £65,000 + Bonus + Benefits
Locke & McCloud are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Network Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network infrastructure, ensuring the security and efficiency of our network operations. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our network systems, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing network performance.
Main Responsibilities:
Network Design and Implementation:
Design, install, and configure network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points using technologies such as Cisco, HP, Meraki, and Fortinet.
Network Security:
Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems to protect against cyber threats.
System Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
Monitor network performance, identify issues, and perform troubleshooting to ensure optimal network functionality and reliability.
Cloud Networking:
Manage and configure network components in cloud environments like Azure and AWS, ensuring secure and efficient cloud operations.
Automation and Scripting:
Utilize tools like PowerShell for network automation tasks to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed network documentation, including configurations, standards, and procedures. Generate reports on network performance and security.
Team Collaboration and Support:
Work closely with other IT teams to provide technical support and mentorship, ensuring effective collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Project Management:
Lead and manage network-related projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget and quality standards.
To be considered for this role, you should have:
Proven experience in network design, installation, configuration, and maintenance.
Proficiency in working with Cisco, HP, Meraki, Fortinet, and other networking technologies.
Strong knowledge of network security principles and practices.
Experience with cloud networking in platforms such as Azure and AWS.
Familiarity with network monitoring tools and techniques.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
