Azure Data Engineer | Cheltenham | £50,000-£70,000

Locke & McCloud are working with a leading Cyber Security Consultancy that is home to over 4000 specialists who support clients across manufacturing, defence and security, energy and utilities, financial services and many other industries. They have offices globally and are recognised for the impressive high standard of work they conduct.

They are looking for an Azure Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in this journey, leveraging your expertise to architect, design, and implement scalable data solutions on the Azure platform.

You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements, design data solutions, and deliver value-added insights. You will be responsible for architecting data pipelines, optimizing data storage and retrieval, and ensuring the integrity and security of our data ecosystem.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to provide consultative guidance to clients, helping them maximize the value of their data investments and achieve their business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with clients to gather and analyze business requirements.

  • Design and implement scalable data solutions on the Azure platform, leveraging services such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Synapse Analytics.

  • Develop and maintain ETL pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources.

  • Optimize data storage, retrieval, and processing for performance and cost efficiency.

  • Implement data governance and security best practices to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.

  • Engage with clients to understand their business needs, assess existing data infrastructure, and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.

  • Collaborate with the Ministry of Defence (MOD) on projects requiring security clearance, ensuring adherence to strict security protocols and compliance with MOD standards.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience designing and implementing data solutions on the Azure platform.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL, T-SQL, and data modelling concepts.

  • Hands-on experience with Azure services such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Databricks.

  • Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Consulting experience is a plus.

  • Must be Security Cleared (SC)
